Toshiba designs and manufactures both AC drives and motors under the same roof in its Houston Texas facility. The drive and motor designers utilize the same dynamometer test lab, which allows joint verification testing of motors and drives. Joint verification testing confirms calculated torque performance and motor heating. This means that once the torque requirements of an application are defined, the drive and motor solution can be accurately engineered, not just sized based on anecdotal experience.

Toshiba has a long history of manufacturing ultra reliable drives, which have been installed on a multitude of different applications. Extensive field experience provides a better understanding of application requirements. If the subtleties of an application are understood, the best solutions can be identified and implemented. Toshiba partner distributors are equipped with tools that allow accurate calculation of; acceleration and deceleration times, maximum torque capability of motor-drive systems and temperature rise of motors. These tools coupled with field experience, application engineering capability, build-up and startup proficiency and Toshiba factory engineering support enable Toshiba distributors to offer solutions for virtually any application.

Motor-drive systems are not just limited to supplying the motor. Solutions often require supply of third party products such as positioning controllers, specialty encoders such as absolute positioning encoders, specialty enclosures including air conditioning, outdoor buildings etc. Solutions also often require working together with a third party vendor to make sure the optimum drive-motor combination is provided with proper feedback for interfacing with external controllers.
